It just not trying to start, before you could tell it had some umph to it and wanting to start right up now it just powerless and flat making a smooth sound if that helps
That would be the starter solenoid activating the bendix spring which engages the starter gear to the flywheel ring gear. But the OP says that the engine is turning over.
that's what I wanted. Bendix. If it's not working the starter would spin but not engage to the flywheel causing the "whine" he said it was making. The video should help.
