Hi I just bought a 2001 f150 supercrew with a wopping 240000 miles... I noticed I'm burning about a ququart of oil every 2-3 weeks and I decided to buy a new motor. It originally had a 4.6 8th digit w on the Vin. I got ahold of a 4.6 out of a 2008 f150 supercrew with 35000 miles for $450 my question is will I have problems changing them out if so what will I need. I know general knowledge about trucKS but this will be my first engine swap and don't really want to encounter alot of problems. Thanks in advanice.
I would first be sure your not leaking oil rather than burning it.
A small amount over several thousand miles looks like the motor is burning it.
As to the swap, be sure the new motor is compatible as a drop in because many changes were made between 01 and 08.
I don't think it's leaking I don't see any puddles or anything if it is leaking it's leaking really slowly and I would think there would be something under my truck but I don't ever see anything. My main question is what are the main changes that could obstruct my drop in ie motor mounts over all motor height anything like that?
