I haven't started a build thread yet but figure I will now that I'm done with disassembly in case I can help someone like me that is doing this as a first time effort. I have an earlier post about 61 or 62 but that has no bearing on where I am now.
Received the frame back from powder coating and have started receiving some of my suspension parts. Decided to go with a bagged MII IFS, power rack and pinion and a 4-link bagged rear suspension. This will be my shop truck and I would like to be able to go to some local shows with it so I want it to handle well and have modern style brakes. The suspension upgrade will also add front and rear 11" slotted disc brakes to make sure I can slow down the 302 with auto trans power train I'm going to add. I have a 20 circuit EZ-wiring harness for a complete rewire which will include a remote start, tilt steering column with column shift.
Anyway, putting the front brackets on for the 4-link, have to remove the back plates and old drum brakes, no easy task after sitting outside for 23 years. Once off I can get the pumpkin and axles out for inspection and prep for the disc equipment.
Want to thank all of you who answer questions and post about your efforts, it is where I'm learning to do this.
Looks great, had to decide between original and a modern rebuild. Need the practice so went with the modern rebuild. Good looking truck, really like the color.
