On rough roads, the antifreeze in the overflow reservoir sloshes out through the cap and makes a bit of a mess. Yeah, all three of the early 90's Fords I've owned have done this. Just wondering if anyone's come up with a brilliant solution?
Never had this happen. Is it over full? Does it come through the vent in the cap? Maybe a fiber or sponge disc could be fastened to the cap to slow the coolant but still allow it to vent.
My 2002 Ranger and my 1997 F250 both do this on rough ground. My Ranger also gets a bit of washer fluid out of the vent making a mess. I just lower the amount of antifreeze/washer so it doesn't come out.
Cracked caps on overflow tank? Ive had numerous ford trucks and hadn't seen that happen. I do a lot of back road driving but am usually going fairly slow, looking for critters, firewood etc.
My '89 has a similar issue. It will slosh out of the overflow tank on rough terrain or if I shut it off on an extreme downward angle when it's hot. Like downhill on a steep boat launch after towing. My radiator always stays full and the tank stays just a little lower than the line. I've just decided that's where it likes to be
