The 40 panel project was on hold waiting for doors and slipping slowly closer to extermination. I had an ad on fordbarn and a guy has some to sell. Pretty rough set with no guts but it's a start.
I looked at two other one ton panels on the net and they were both 6 grand without rear doors. No engine/trans either.... I'm going to guess the doors fit the more popular half tons as well, so finding any at all is a huge step. I can give you close ups or measurements of what's missing, including the scissors type 2 position door stays. Is fordbarn a good place to ask about running boards as well? What I mean is the classified ads on FTE confuse the heck out of me so I never use them.....
Fordbarn is a much simpler format than FTE. It sure wouldn't hurt to try, lots of old timers on there too.
Ryan who runs the HAMB bought the Fordbarn a couple years ago and it looks and feels much the same (without the drama).
Thanks WB, I dabble a bit on the Barn but haven't ventured to The Hamb. Everyone here scares me away from it. I don't even know what getting 'flamed' means, but it doesn't sound too fun. I got 25 years of that from my ex wife and now I just wanna have fun! I'll try for some running boards on the hamb. Are your rear doors exactly the same as mine? Good luck in your quest.
I've been on the HAMB longer than anywhere and get along fine but seldom post there anymore. It isn't complicated, just read the rules. Nothing newer than 64, no ratrods or mention of them and never, ever any VW bugs. It's just too busy for me. Unanswered threads fall off page 4-5 in a couple hours.
There is a great wealth of knowledge over there and some real talented oldtimers Like Mike Bishop and Vern Tardel. And some awesome younger builders like Cole Foster and Rudy.
Fordbarn is a busy site, but very useful for the older (pre 1955 or so) vehicles. If you are looking for parts, I would go there and eBay. eBay of course with all the standard warnings. The Hamb site is a good site, but those guys like mods, I like original. You have to give it to some of the folks on Hamb though for their knowledge.
I'm new to this site, so we will see what happens here.
Good bunch here, but if you look at how many people watching at any given time you see that the 48-56 guys outnumber us old timey guys by a huge margin. I do enjoy FTE very much though.
I always head for the 47 and older forum first and Fordbarn is similar in a lot of ways. More guys with some knowledge and not so much the younger set that run to the keyboard everytime their truck won't start or a tail light goes out.
Oh wait, there is no battery in it. By the way, don't give up on your panel. I go down and stare at mine at least once a day. That doesn't fix it, but it makes the large sum of money I've already spent on it easier to bear. Now if you DO decide to sell it.......
