Howdy Newly03, welcome to FTE! I personally dont have one, but my freind back in Fort Hood, TX, does. It is true that they dont take in water. But the water in your bed does need to leak out of the factory slots so you need to leave a clearance for that. It is a form-fitted for your personal application. It goes in with velcro tabs for easy installation and removal. Every few months it would be good to remove it to clean/wax your truck bed. As for oil, well we had to replace his camaros tranni, and we just put the old tranni in the bed on the carpet....The tranni fluid did in fact stain the carpet. We tried and tried, but it wouldnt come out. All in all its a very good product as long as you dont abuse it.
I have one in my 01 F150. Works pretty well for my needs- hauling ski equipment and bicycles most of the time, with the occassional(3-4 times per year) dump run or the dreaded moving day friends talk you into.
Last week I moved a wishing well- you know those half barrels with a roof on it and a plant in it. Weighed a bit over two hundred pounds. I scraped and gouged the underliner a little bit. Mostly due to trying to force the barrel and the iron bands catching on the lip of the bed. The top of the liner was untouched. I did spill enough muddy dirt- a neighbor thoughtfully overwatered the plant just before we moved it- to warrant pulling the bottom part of the rug out to wash it. First time I had it out since I bought it. Cleaned up very easily. Underneath was amazing clean and free of debri- I do have a cap on the truck as well.
Pretty comfortable to rest on and you only need a very minimal pad to be comfortable when sleeping on it.
The biggest and only drawback so far is the rug is not kind to bare skin. It will leave some very nasty rug burns on any exposed skin. Looks soft and fuzzy but remember it is plastic.
