Due to aluminum issues. Just quoted on the news wires as is Ford's reduced stock price this AM. Ford will NOT display their newly redesigned F-150 at the Detroit auto show in January.
Chrysler had to delay the launch of their new Cherokee, due to quality issues caught right before the launch. That thing seems to be doing reasonably well now for a new vehicle.
Personally, regardless of bad press etc... I'm glad Ford pulled the plug on this early, before launching the new truck and having a firestorm of issues ala 6.0 PSD years.
I was in a GMC dealership last week. Contrary to what GM is saying he told me directly that their new 2014' line-up are NOT selling well due to their outrageous prices. The gotta have group bought regardless but they've come and gone. Now price competition is hurting GM.
Priced a 2014' F-150 regular cab vs a GMC similar truck. Both 4WD. Ford's trucks is about $3,500 less. Now GM is slapping a $3,500 cash rebate on their totally over priced 2014' line of trucks.
I'm very curious as to what the new Titan and its turbo diesel Cummins 5.0L option will do to the truck world when it debuts? I'm really surprised Ford is not offering this type of drive train in the F-150. Very surprised. After all, they've been the number one selling vehicle in the USA for decades now. I though they would never be "outdone" in the pick up world???

I'm not surprised at all. Nissan currently does not have a heavy-duty platform with any available diesels. Ford has the Superduty line with available diesel engine.
I'm sure that ram and nissan will have some fanboys flocking to the 1/2 ton diesels, but I bet it will not sell as well as the ecoboost has in the F-150 lineup
They shouldn't be, the current gen F-150 is still the best truck on the market, despite being amongst the oldest designs and tech.
Look how old the Super Duty line is, debuting way back to '99 if I recal? Yes it's had new engines, grilles and interior. But it's still roughly the same truck as the '99 and it still dominates the heavy duty segment.
I've have no doubt the new F-150 truck will be worth the wait.

Nissan currently makes a HD Van with HD Chassis. The Cummins 5.0 is a shoe in for this chassis. Its just a matter of time. Competion is good for the consumer!
When Chevy comes out with the new Colorado/Diesel things will get interesting.
Way better idea than a 1/2 ton/Diesel.
Not really, the occasional 1/2 ton dude who needs to tow a 10,000 LB travel trailer to the camp spot several times a year who does not need a 3/4 Ton truck nor want one. There are many people like this out there! Try doing that with a small truck! LOL

You can do that with a F150 Tow Max... no diesel or 3/4 ton needed.
Small truck, small diesel would do what most of us need and get great fuel mileage.
I've read a few fair reviews on the Ram 1500 diesel engine. So maybe Ford will get into that arena also?
I've read stellar reviews on the Eco-Diesel engine. Nissan is comming to market with its 5.0 Cummins. Both engines are built very well. Ford is crazy for not offering one in their line up or for not selling the Global Ranger in the US. If Ford is scared of these biting into sales of the F-150 in the US Market they need to get over it! Give the consumer what they want or they will go elsewhere to who fills their needs. The days of brand loyalty are over! Consumers go to who fills their needs performance wise & price wise! My next truck might be a diesel 1/2 ton. If Ford does not offer one when its time to buy it just might be asta la vista baby!
Ford keeps saying no....... but if there are enough sales they may change their mind.
If you look at their lineup there is not a logical place for a F150 diesel... the Eco boost pretty much fills that need.
Personally I don't see why not? I mean from a bean-counter stand ponit, and economical/ financial sense from the consumer point of view it also is silly.
But if no body is going to lose their job, or starve at Ford, give the people the choice of the 3.5 EcoBoost or some sort of small, but high torque diesel.
I don't buy into the "there's no room in the lineup talk" the world would be an awesome place if there were 10 engines to chose from, just for the sake of saying "hey take your pick"
Diesel doesn't make sense for me anymore, ever since the introduction of complex DPF, EGR, Urea, systems, I just don't want to deal with the maintenance requirements etc...
That said, I would love to see the option of a diesel in the F-150 lineup, right along side the current motors. Would also love to see the addition of a full EV F-150 with a minimum 80 mile range and say 5,000 lb towing capability as we'll.
I don't think Ram is going to make a dime off their Ram EcoDiesel, just as GM hasn't turned a profit on the Volt. But it gives them a "Halo" vehicle to sell, this gets people talking about their brand image, gets butts into showrooms and is healthy for the brand.
If Ford persued a diesel F-150, in my opinion it wouldn't hurt their image. As an example, nobody has even noticed Nissan's -Truck division in the last 5-7 years, but all of the sudden they announce this Cummins/ Nissan partnership and they are suddenly taken as a serious threat, contendor in the 1/2 segment.
