I did some upgrades.
New 7 quart oil pan kit from L&L with new oil pump and pick-up.(fits great)
New 2 quart aluminum transmission pan and filter.
New hi-torque mini starter. (clears the headers nice)
New ceramic coated hedman elite headers.(adds some top end)
New spark plugs.
The truck is running really smooth a little more grunt and quieter.
100% leak free for now.
UPDATE
New exhaust ran out the sides behind the rear wheels.
Serviced my Dana with some synthetic and a aluminum fined differential cover.
my famous last words "leak free" bit me in the rear.
New timing cover, water pump, belts hoses, coil and master cylinder gasket.
Here some pics
on a side note if you google 1978 F350 dually my truck shows up in my drive, oh and my truck is also on the google street view. Kinda neat, i guess?
Looking good, the only thing that bothers me is the exhaust crimp over the rear axle. The diameter of your exhaust at the crimp is what will choke of your system. Other wise you've got a sharp looking and hopefully a good running truck
Thanks privateer,eh
Ya the crimp looks to be to small from the picture, but its o.k.
The truck is running good, timing adjusted, replaced a cracked vacuum line, and flushed the brake system. It seems like every time i try to do some thing good for the truck, something else happens that i have to fix.
My wife said the words today "YOU LOVE THAT TRUCK MORE THAN ME" dang it took her long enough to realize this, haa..

Wish I was up there then, I have never been to Wisconsin.
The truck was purchased in Houston Texas and has never left the state, yet.
The truck Started life as a TDOT tar oil truck that rolled in a ditch with 16000 miles on it (frame and chassis, not cab). I now have 23500 miles on it.
When I shop for parts trucks I look for the guy who's replaced most of the truck and is tired of putting more money into it and wants it gone. Keep putting parts into it and it will be new, should be getting close to that point. But, if your tired of throwing parts at it...........

Yaaaaa...No....
I probably would have taken you up on that back in 2008 when the economy went bad. My son will get this truck.
I actually love to put new parts on it and make it like new again. It's turning into an obsession.
I wish i could afford my obsession though!
I just installed a small tach, put new copper plugs in 0.46 gap, and fixed my breather cap with a valve. (now one blows and the other sucks).
Do they have the correct alignment hole for the dowel pin, or did you have to buy hubcentric spacers/bushings for them?
I think the chevy wheels are hub centric but ford uses conical lug nuts and an alignment dowel.
I am debating on trying to source old OEM Ford Alcoa dually wheels or just buy new ones.
Hello, the Alcoas from Ford as well as the Universal Alcoas are all hub centric wheels they have 5/8 lug holes and use the large lug nut with captured washers. They will NOT work on your truck unless you modify the wheel. The Eagle alloy uses a 0.800 lug hole with the proper mag lug nuts.
I used a set of non ford Alcoas from a chevy.I had to enlarge the center hole to fit over the ford hubs and I drilled all of the lug holes out to 3/4 and used mag lug nuts with 1.25 steel mag lug washers.

Truck's looking really great! You gotta paint the grooves on your valve covers now though...
