The steel fittings are 1/3 the cost of aluminum an stuff . the push located is fairly easy to work with.
IMO half the cost is good but then you will have to wire it all up also. There is a certain aggervation factor associated with building your own system. If I had the cash buying a system would be nice but just not an option for me.
You can buy a wiring harness from Strictly Diesel for the OBS for $130 IIRC. Well worth it in my book. I haven't got all my stuff ordered yet, but I'm gonna come in at around $650 I think. I will be posting my parts list with sources, p/n's, and prices when its finished this spring.

Ok guys as I have received a few private messages I was told to look into another system. 100% bolt on kit that almost everything is made in America, untilized stock superduty pump (nice incase I ever break down) Good up to 160cc injectors before I would need more. For $865. The only thing that I don't like is that it utilizes the stock fuel lines to the back of the head and the banjo bolt. So I was wondering if anyone has removed that with a different setup. I am thinking of using the Bar Non diesel kit and just replacing the hardlines on the back of the heads so this way when I want more power I can Just add another fuel pump and the lines on top of the engine will be set for the increased flow rate. Thanks

Well... you did say you wanted to be able to run stage 2 or 3 injectors. 160cc is just stage 1. Most people who do a DIY kit replace the lines going to the heads.

Stage 2's can also be as small as 160/80s.

That stock line is like 1/4"...its soooo tiny...I can't imagine reusing it.

Phil, that harness is a lot of cash. I got the oil switch, relay, fuse holder.
Maybe 25$.

It seems like a slick setup tho.

Well guys I got myself into a world of hurt... This glow plug replace/fuel bowl rebuild has turned into my biggest nightmare... Strictly Diesel is building me a custom kit that will work for my stock setup right now and eventually bigger power. next is the removal of old system. which turned into this.

I took a ton of pictures last night that is why that Stanley battery pack is on the truck so I could charge my phone LOL! But no, I got into this way to deep to the point where I regret it. It was a gut feeling saying "Just do it right so the truck is reliable and I trust it to go anywhere." So Custom Strictly diesel fuel system, Adrenaline Hpop, 6.0 Intercooler if I can find one fairly cheap, Dana 60 (if I can find one) bed is coming off to do electic transfer pump, rear tank is getting replaced. New parking break system, New u-joints, Auxially DIY transmission cooler that will run the length of the passenger frame rail, Egt gauge, Ts Informant. (possibly turbo and sticks). This list has gotten a little bit longer and way more expensive than what I could have hoped. So she will be dead in the water for awhile. Unless I can sell my 79 f150. Plan today is to finish up my homework (love college) Pull the core support (weld the cheap tin bottom pieces with some heavy metal), and pull the bed off. This way I will have ease of hooking it up to my tractor in and out of the shop.

well guys I worked on her some more today. Almost ready for the engine to come out. just have to unbolt clutch linkage, unbolt trans, and motor mounts. Then she is ready to come out. Also started the back side of the project. have the bed removed!

got the radiator and core support out, and the wiring harness off to the passenger side.

Box is off to re-enforce gooseneck hitch, remove dmi bumper and put stock bumper, drop hitch on/ Removing old shocks tanks, and cleaning axle/frame up for paint.

This is the frame tail (horn) on the back and it looks different to me, any opinions?

and does anyone know what this plug is for. It was on the driverside of the core support fastened to the support below the headlight hole?

Well I don't know if you guys are following or care but I know everyone likes pictures, so here is some of the progress as of yesterday. Today I am taking a break~
