Ideas for lifting this bad boy

Currently im doing a 2nd gen cummins conversion on my 1974 crew cab 4x4. I am in the later stages of the conversion and the next priority on my list is to lift it. This is an unknown territory for me and i need ideas. My first choice was that i wanted to run 40 15.5 toyo mts on it but after finding these michelin xzl 365 (42 in) military tires... I have changed my mind for the time being. ive realized that no one makes a kit big enough to run these tires and i want to hear your ideas on what i should do. Im going to talk to a spring shop about having custom springs made but i have no idea what it will cost.. im guessing ALOT $$ ideas???

The weight of the tires and rims would be taxing on axles and brakes. There are better tires out there.

Whats the intended purpose of the truck? Daily driver/offroad rig/deep mud?

Tire needs a 20" rim....$$$

Leaf springs Alcan Spring - Manufactures Fine Custom Leaf Springs or http://www.atlassuspension.com/

I think Atlas sales a spring where you can ditch the rear block all together. I believe your rear springs are 2 1/4 wide and therefore so is your hanger. Most are 3" wide in the big spring dept. Rivet grind time to swap out your hangers too.

Does that truck have a low pinion/drum brake front axle? Yes it has the big hubs, but I bet LP D44 and drum brakes.

And yes there are a # of better tire choices.

For something that big you're going to be looking at a build your own lift. You could fab in Chevy 12" lift springs/ hangers. OR link it and do coil overs!

If you use anything chevy on that truck it will lose 22 hp, 3 mpg and get stuck on an asphalt road.

9" spring and 3" body is about perfect for 42's.

Any local spring shop can make them for you....it is their business to do so.

I don't think it should be more than $250/corner.

Kinda surprised when I called the local spring shops and they said that they wouldn't go over 4 inch lift height.. Supposedly it is a liability.. Called atlas suspension up and they said they could do up to 12 inches. They said im looking at about 1500 for 8 inch from 6 rear

The spring shop just doesn't want to do it becuase htey are going to have to think about something instead of copying a length and arc out of a book for a stock replacement spring.

Because if they were only worried about liability but still wanted to do the work, they would say "Dear Mr. Customer, I would gladly do the work but due to the excessive lift we would like you to sign this liability waiver."

So i called oregon spring and they told me to call Deaver spring in santa ana (they do work with oregon spring) and ask them if they have a specs for the spring and they would send a ticket to oregon spring and oregon spring would build the spring according to the specs. i called and their shop but the guy who they told me to talk to was out of the office for the day so i will call tomorrow. this would be my best bet at this point considering if i bought from atlas i would have to ship them... more $$$.

Curious how much Oregon Spring will charge you.

If you're going to have springs made you might as well eliminate the rear block.
