2001 X Code Springs

I have a 2001 F250 CC 4X4. I am wanting to change my stock 14 year old V code springs out with new X code springs. I am thinking the front will be sitting higher than the rear after doing this. Do I need to order the F350 blocks for the rear? And if so, do I need to shim the Carrier Bearing for the drive shaft?
Thanks for any help!

Is your front lower than the rear now? I put X springs on mine and it only leveled the truck but my front was already 1.5" lower. If your front is lower I would spring it first and then see how it sits.

I haven't measured it. Just looking at it, it doesn't look much lower. I'll measure it this evening. I know when it was new the rear did not set much higher if any than the front. Does your truck have the 2" blocks in the rear or 3.5"?

Ford X code springs, or aftermarket springs marketed as the same as Ford X codes?

It's possible, depending on the rear springs currently on your rig.

And if so, do I need to shim the Carrier Bearing for the drive shaft?
Based on all the spring suspension help we give in the Ex forum, no, you don't need to shim.

I'll be ordering Factory X Codes

I have stock B codes on the rear with 2" blocks

Thanks!

What Stewart is getting at is "Ford OEM X Code Springs" can be marketed as such, but are not the same. It's real Ford OEM, or it's not.

In other words...the only place Ford 'X' code springs can be obtained is from Ford. The 43-818 aftermarket spring is not the same. I am curious as to what the rating process is and what are the differences between the Ford spring and the aftermarket one. And depending on what you want to use your truck for a good spring company can add leaves to a stack to beef it up if you need it. I am currently running the 43-818's and so far so good.

I don't need the X code rating, other than wanting the taller stance. I will be ordering my springs from Sunrise Ford or Tousley Ford. I have a friend that just put a set of the
43-818HD on his 99 F250. But I have read mixed reviews on them. His pretty much sets level now, but his 99 has 3 1/2" blocks in the rear. I'm trying to find out if OEM X codes need the 3 1/2" block for the rear. I don't want the front higher than the rear.
Thanks

Why don't you go for the W code springs then? If the specific rating of the X code isn't your primary want, then the W codes might be more your cup of tea.

I will be ordering my springs from Sunrise Ford or Tousley Ford.
If you're in SoCal down by Sunrise, then order from them if you can get them close to the same price as Tousley because the shipping from Tousley will be a big cost.

Yes, all things being equal and on a stock suspension, you will more than likely need the larger, 3.5" tapered blocks.

I just replaced my CC's worn (one was broken) V codes with 43-818's over the weekend. I got the springs locally from a spring shop. Woodward Spring; Brockton, MA.

My truck had a serious rake before the swap with the front sitting fairly low. Now it sits almost perfectly level, even with the stock F250 rear blocks.

I said before I put x springs on mine. They are not Ford but from General Spring out of Kansas City. Not sure what the difference would be if the meet the same specs. I've been happy with them.

Can you post a picture of your truck so I can see how it looks?

I know you didn't ask for mine but thought I'd throw them out there. I went and looked at my old invoice and my replacements were 43-818's. The top 3 pics are before and the last two are after. It was more than a 1 beer project. My driver side droop was more than the passenger side but all even after the spring change.

I agree.
Ford specs their X codes with a 3000# capacity
43-818's have a 2630# capacity

ON EDIT: Looks like there is a 43-818HD spring available that has a capacity rating of 3950#s (three leaf)
