Have a 1997 Expedition and am trying to hook up an aux electric brake control. Bought a 4way to 7way drawtite conversion plug that hooks to the standard 4way plug. Have three more wires on the plug to hook up: white / ground, blue / brakes? and yellow / ?.
I noticed on the standard wiring harness, there's another plug that has a blue and a red wire in the same 4 way harness.
Does anyone know what these two wires are?
Do I even need a add on electric brake control or can I hook the trailer electric brakes right to this extra blue wire on the harness?
I assume by the standard 4-way plug you do not have the towing package? I'm not sure if Ford included the extra wires or not , but if in doubt run the extra wire or 2 from the controller to the plug. I think the yellow is aux 12+ maybe to charge trailer batteries or to supply trailer.
