I recently bough a 75 F-100 with a 400 motor. The Carborator needs to be replaced. I plan on installing a 4bbl intake and carb but Im unsure of which to buy????
Edelbrock makes two different 4V intake manifolds for the M-block (351M/400) engines. The Performer #2171 non-EGR manifold and the #3771 EGR manifold. Only the #3771 manifold is emissions-legal (with a CARB EO#).
Weiand (owned by Holley) also makes a 4V intake manifold for the M-block. The Action Plus #8010 is a non-EGR manifold.
All these manifolds are aluminum, and they all have provision for Thermactor AIR (smog pump), and an exhaust crossover with the automatic choke heat exchanger port.
Personally, I don't like the Edelbrock #2171 non-EGR manifold because the carb mounting flange is so flimsy, you have to use an extra spacer just to get the carb to seal.
