Not getting the codes with EEC-IV
Not getting the codes with EEC-IV
1989 F250
I connected everything as seen in the diagram for EECIV, turned the key and nothing. Double and triple checked that all the connections were good, apparently something is not connecting.
Also the article said that the STI should be hanging separately but it wasn't. I had to unplug it from the module which also contained the other 6 terminals.

You should have a grey connector for your EEC test. You should also have a single wire that also hooks to the tester..
You should turn on the key, then turn the tester to the test position. (Nothing should be unplugged from the engine harness!!).
After a minute, you should hear some clicking of solenoids then it will start flashing and or beeping.
If this doesn't happen, you may need to clean the teminals on the ECC plug on the truck. I had a 85 do that to me yesterday.

I followed this procedure.
I am not sure I am finding the STI trigger. It is a single wire or rather single recepticle plugged in right near the other 6 terminals. It didn't seem to go anywhere. But it was definitely not hanging loose like the description said.
Once I hooked everything up based on the diagram (scroll about 1/2 way down), I turned the key to the "on" position with engine off. I did not get anything. Are you saying that I must first turn the key and then jump SIG RTN to STI?

I finally found the right connectors - SIG RTN (Pin E in the above diagram) and STI. Jumping then, turning the key to ON (Engine off) and nothing happens.
What could be going wrong with this? It should very simple. How do I clean the connectors?
