c6 vacuum modulator valve
I have recently purchased a 85 f350 with a 6.9l and it has a c6 auto i have a concern with the vacuum hose that comes off the fuel pump and runs down to the transmission from what i can gather it is the vacuum kick down it is not connected and the small piece of hose that is coming off the fuel pump has a ball bearing in it im guessing to block the hose so its not leaking.
The transmission doesnt seam to kick down when you sink your foot into the accellerator pedal. Can anyone think of a reason this may of been done and is there anything to look out for if i put it back how it should be. The previous owner told me the transmission was rebuilt in 2010.
Thanks
Rod
the kickdown lever is the bent piece hooked to the lever with the large top spring above the cruise/throttle cables.

the VRV (vacuum regulator valve) supplies vacuum signal to the trans modulator on the back of the trans. this vacuum signal helps the trans shift.
if i remember correctly the line on top should go to the modulator, and the line on bottom should go to the vacuum tee on the firewall.
so it is the modulator valve that is not being used, is this going to cause any problems apparently when the transmission was rebuilt it was built to handle towing heavy loads it shifts pretty good when under load although when light highway driving it is a very harsh change almost like its being smashed in gear is this going to harm anything would it of been deliberately left off by the rebuild mechanic. it has a green band valve on it not that it matters as its not being used.
thanks
