Hey folks,
I've been roaming around this forum for some time and the information has been extremely useful over the years. Thanks to all who go out of there way to provide tons of information to assist the novices out here like me. It's very much appreciated!
I currently own a 69 F100 and have always regretted selling a 66 several years ago. I have found another 66 Custom Cab locally and I'm curious to know if the info associated with the DSO is still available. The number on the plate is 226198. Does FORD still retain these records? Would love to know the color and any options ordered.
Welcome to FTE, Ron. Sorry to report that Ford dumped the DSO information years ago. 22 is the code for the Charlotte District Sales Office from which the Domestic Special Order was placed. The fact that the Paint Code space is blank indicates that that was probably what the DSO was about. But no record still exists to say unless you can get lucky like I did and find the build sheet still located in the seat back springs. Sorry!
Welcome to FTE!! Suggest check with DMV for truck history, same issue with my 65, you will likely find the buyer; individual, company, or military order the truck/fleet to their specifications?? In my case it was pacific gas and electric.
No build sheet to be found but with the exception of the bed it was a very clean truck so I bought it. Dark maroon color appears to be original. Hasn't been on the road in awhile but the motor purrs and power steering has already been added. Looking forward to the project. Thanks for all the feedback!
My '66 is a DSO truck with a blank paint code, but as I mentioned, I found its build sheet and discovered it had been painted Emberglow, a '66 Mustang color, and Wimbledon White. There is a maroon car color from that era called Vintage Burgundy Metallic. The car color code for it is "X". It's possible that is your color. Or it could be something completely different (as Monty Python used to say).
