I have an 89 f150 2x4, 3 speed + OD automatic that has a blown 302 EFI that I need to replace. I don't know much about engines, but a friend said I should look into getting a crate engine. I'm trying to do my research, but I find mostly performance engines that are way out of my price range and probably won't bolt into my transmission easily. I'm just looking for a quality complete crate engine to drop in and go. Anyone know how to go about this issue?

 

You could take your motor you have now to a shop and have them rebuild it or go to advance auto for the easy aspect I think they sell crate motors and have a warranty on them

 

I have a 93 f150 2wd 302 e4od that I had a shop install a remanufactured engine from Advance Auto last September. After about 800 miles a valve stuck and hit the piston. Advance gave me another engine and paid all the cost of remove and install of the new engine. I have about 2000 miles on this engine so far with no problems.

Just get a stock replacement motor for a '94 F150 for a little boost in power and put that in your truck or for a little more again buy a stock replacement engine for a '96 Explorer to get the GT40 heads.
