1976 ford f150

I have a 76 ford f150 with a 390 and I stripped the torque converter bolts off. Is there an easy way to get the converter off of the motor? thank you

Isn't a torque converter held secured to the flex plate with nuts?

yes, i stripped the nuts off.

I hope you can weld......

Get a nut that is bigger than the TC's stud and weld it to the stripped nut. Let it cool off and yes, loosen counter-clockwise.

Is there enough room between the block and the nut to weld another nut on?

sorry I understand now turn the motor over until the nut is in the open and weld the nut on. Im going to try it now hope it works. Thanks for the help!!!!!!!

You can also go to your parts store and explain what you have, they have special tools to get the stripped nuts off, just cant remember what their called.. good luck

I tried this 1st before I weld on it, to much of a chance warping the flex plate or starting a oil fire right under the oil & tranny pan
