was a manual truck, had auto trans and column swapped in long ago
there is some spliced wiring around (i think) the NSS on steering column above brake pedal, some red and wires going into other wires
turn signal indicators work
hazzards work
hi beam blue indicator works
turning the light switch dial makes the LIGHTS / WIPER bulb go dim and bright-so i
dont think its the switch
I tried a couple different clusters in there and same problem, except for once, the first
cluster i tried had the lights turn on and then i turned lights off and on and they didnt come back on after that
i tried 2 different red printed circuit backed clusters, and one from 1975 green backed one
I cleaned connections on back of cluster and where the lights swivel in, and the plug from the truck harness as well
on all the clusters, one had the red BRAKES, the others all had the red FASTEN BELTS square on left of cluster, when the lights are turned on these squares would light up as well and then blink with the turn signals but not with the hazzards
tried switching out the hazzard and turn signal flasher thingys under dash and guage lights still did same things
Break out the volt meter and see where you have 12V - at the switch, at the connector to the cluster, at the bulb socket contacts, etc. Check grounds too...
update: it was the contacts/connections in the grey plug from the truck wiring harness that plugs into the back of cluster, the tiny metal tabs that contact the cluster were loose and broken, I had to replace 4 of them and the lights worked again, its always something simple with these trucks. I had some extra wiring I had saved that had the correct ends on them, so I just had to cut out old and splice in replacements.
