EOT VS ECT rapid change

Hi all, I have 2005 6.0 that usually sees 1-2deg usually 198-200 difference in my temps once warmed up, and max a max of 10 degree difference for the first 5 mins of running from cold but after stoping to fill up my EOT was dropping it went right down to 174. Seems very odd to me. Any ideas why this might be?

Tstat crapped out (they usually fail open) normally it's a gradual thing I think--mine was--but bad tstat would be my guess.

Oh wow that is strange. You don't have an air cooled cooler I don't suppose.
I wouldn't know where to start with this other then check ect, eot, and iat after an 8 to 12 hour cold soak. If they are all within a degree or 2 of each other that would rule out a bad sensor. Should be one of the pros chime in shortly.

Remove the oil temp sensor clean it with brake cleaner and put back in...

I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks back and that was Fords solution, it's been perfect since.

Same thing here only the techs couldn't find it. I did after they said everything was normal and gave the truck back to me.

Be careful on the torque. It's fairly easy to strip the threads, especially if your using 3/8 drive tools.

Ok I will give that a try.
Err where is it?
I let it sit over night both temps the same.
Drive for 30 min oil approx 10-15 cooler. After several full throttle hills they came to the same temp.
Truck sat for an hour same temps 136. Then started to drive oil hoe down and ECT goes up to sit at 20-25 degree differnce.
Hoping its just the sensor.

I've had that happen recently, and it was a bad connection on the oil temp sender. I so far have just wiggled it a few times and reseated it, but eventually I'll see about fixing it properly. As of yesterday it's just fine so no particular urgency. Very odd to be on the highway towing a decent sized trailer at 65 mph and the EOT suddenly dips to 165 degrees...

Are your sensors the same? Local parts houses show 2 different part numbers for an 03 6.0.

Both temp sensors are the same.

There is also the additional oil pressure switch.
