I did a search and found nothing so I'm hoping someone has experience with a similar issue. My center console (fold up type ,front seat) is loose on one side and I can't figure out how to take it apart enough to repair or tighten it. Anyone maybe have some insight or videos on such a project? Thanks in advance for any help. This is in the truck in my sig.
My driver's side of the center console is loose and has cracked the corners inside the storage compartment from people leaning on it. I originally thought it was just the plastic and attempted to repair it with some JB weld, to no avail.
Is the whole upper seat loose or just the lid on the console. I had an issue with mine (vinyl/plastic cover lifting up from the hot sun shrinking it) and spent some time messing with the seat. If you give me a little more specific info I might be able to lead you in the right direction. Down side is Ford does not make replacement parts in terms of the little things and their solution for me to fix the cup holder section was to purchase a new seat.

Not sure about anyone else, but my problem is with the hinge on the right side next to the passenger seat. That hinge is loose and I can't see how to take the console apart to fix or tighten it. I may just bite the bullet and dig into mine too.
Once you pop off the two piece cover you should be able to tighten whatever may be loose on it. Under the first cover you will find the bolts that hold the top section of the seat to the bottom and under the second section you will have access to the lower half of the assembly. Here is a pic with the top section removed:

Subscribing. I have that exact issue with the passenger side hinge. Hopefully a fix is a brewing.
We had a fleet of these with the same problem. What happens most of the time is that someone leans on one corner to reach in the back when the seat back is down cracking the corner. It's not fixable once the back is broken. You an tear it apart but the way the two halves go together will not allow someone to put it back together, well that it looks decent. The crack will reappear the first time someone puts any real weight on it. Other than checking the bolts for being loose, there is not much that you can do.

Thanks Dan, Looks like a good place to start. I am not sure how that cover is held on, but I know it will come off one way or another. Hopefully I can get away with tightening the bolts shown.
The side covers slide on and are held on with the push pin. To remove the covers, find the push pins, one for each cover and release them, then slide the covers off. Careful not to bend the cover too much.
When I would lean my elbow on the front left corner of my console, it would give, and the back right corner would lift. I tore into my console last night and got it repaired. There are two screws on the bottom of the back corners. I assume that leaning on the front of the console pulled these screws loose. I tightened the screws, put it all back together, and everything seems fine. Hope this helps.
