It occurred to me that the Excursion forum would be a great place to highlight this topic, since Excursion owners are likely to be true humanitarians able to skim a little computing power off the top. Handsome & erudite, too.

I tried it once awhile back and never could get it to work correctly, but I love the idea!

I did this back in 2006 with a bunch of spare computers my work had lying around. I had a whole server farm running 4 instances each on 5 computers. The room they were in would get up to 100° on the weekends. I watched as one by one each computer slowly died. The only reason I haven't done this at home is the power draw. Your electric bill can shoot up with this kind of stuff if you aren't careful. Just my 2¢
