So I've had a soft brake pedal for about 3 months, I haven't rescheduled with the shop that put on my front disks to re bleed the system. Today I was taking my 6 yr old to Daylight donuts cuz it is here "share" day at kendergarden. I was going to slowdown for the turn into the parkinglot and... NO PEDAL, the breK pedal goes all the way to the floor, I stab it hard to get something happening and the rear locks up and stops me, after that the lesson is very learned...don't mess with a soft break pedal there is no excuse for bing cheap.
Last good snow we had I took the explorer out for the first time ever driving in snow and I had almost bald tires on the explorer. On the way home I lost traction on the highway and the car slid off the road into the dirt where it grabbed traction again and through me to the left back onto the highway where the car did a burnout on ice without me hitting the throttle. I had left the hubs locked in and slammed the 4x4 button into 4x4 HI and I was able to grab and drive home very carefully (back in 2wd with front hubs locked) without a problem till I got to the backroads.
When I got to the backroad on the way home I was doing about 10-15MPH (which when it is dry I usually do 40 or more) and I was in 4x4 HI taking it easy as their was a lot of packed snow on the road and the explorer got bad traction on snow (but great in mud) well all of a sudden I hit a slick spot and the 4x4 kicked out and I was slidding left and right just trying to steer it out of the slide for a good amount of length till the 4x4 kicked back in and I was able to grab traction again (grabbed some mud) and steer it straight. This was only 20ft from having to come to a turn or go down into a huge ditch!
Once I got home I had to check my pants and afterward make sure the explorer was ok. Never had a problem with the 4x4 after that.
