Random Smoke WTF!!!!
Then today im driving my dog to the vet and the exact same thing happened but this time not only was there a loss in power but the truck seemed to sputter. Every other time engine runs fine. No banging knocking or anything else. Just acts like theres no boost.
Any ideas guys????

You had an oil leak from the front cover (not uncommon) and a tech changed the front cover gasket. No idea if they also changed the front seal but never mind. So the tech touched ....
- Front cover
- oil pump
- Radiator and radiator hoses
- CAC and CAC boots
- Vertical EGR cooler
And you now are blowing white smoke from exhaust at times. Sometimes its accompanied by loss of power. They tossed a new compound turbo on your truck along the way, which did not fix the white smoke problem but didn't cause any other problems. Right? Also the oil leak is fixed. Right? No trouble codes. Right? Stock truck right? No changes in fluid levels (oil, coolant) right???
So, go back to what the tech messed with when they fixed the oil leak. Which of the items could cause white smoke? I think white smoke is either fuel or coolant. So, based on what was touched to fix the oil leak I'd:
- look for a coolant leak in an EGR cooler
- I'd drop the lower CAC boot and look for moisture condensation
- I'd inspect the EBP sensor (fueling) just for giggles
- I'd probably think about the EGR valve sticking
- I would closely monitor oil and coolant levels for any changes
So, there are some things you can look at. Kinda wonder if your dealer hasn't already done these things. But all of them are things you can do in your driveway as you figure out what is wrong with the truck. Best of luck. -FB
