I just bought a 2012 350. There is a lot of rust in the bed of the truck, possibly from the previous owner having left some machinery or something back there. Any suggestions for removing it?
Also there are a few small paint chips. Are those easy to fix? Or am I stuck with them?
There are a few options you can do. One is to take a sander, with some 150ish grit and sand it out and prime, paint it. Second you can get a small sand blaster, lightly brush the bed problem areas with the blaster, after covering the truck body and bedsides of course. they also make a rustoleum rust restore that seems to work well, just depends on how far you want to go on the truck, which ever option you take, id do a bed liner after.
if the bed liner its self is chipping out, its probably a cheap bed liner, like Hercules from autozone. I dont know how deep you wanna get in to it. but id take 40-80 grit and a sander, scuff the crap out of it. get it to where its no longer chipping and pealing off, get the rust off of it and take it to a linex place. thats just my 2 cents though
