I have been noticing the last couple of days that the oil pressure on my 72 f100 is really low. The gauge isn't broken because it still moves. Is there something I should change or check to have it raise my oil pressure? It's in the normal range but instead of being in the middle it is all the way at the bottom. Is this normal? I'll attach a picture of what it looks like at idle. Thanks.
I would think that as long as it is in range even at idle it would be fine. My Dodge cummins does the same thing. As soon as you rev up the pressure goes up. If yours doesn't, then there is something wrong

Don't know about Dodge Cummins but this is normally a sign of worn cam,crank,and/or rod bearings or an oil pump pressure relief valve not working correctly.
Mine reads that low all the time. I put a mechanical guage on it to test and had a decent 20-40 reading. I put the old one back on and left it at that. I FIGURE THE OLD WIRING HAS JUST TOO MUCH RESISTANCE TO GIVE ME AN ACCURATE READING.
Like sandman said install a mechanical gauge and see what it says then put some heavier oil in it if the gauge still reads low. A worn engine needs heavier oil.
If this is the V8 FE, do not sweat it, especially if the engine has some miles on it. This is a common issue because of a design in the oil flow. Tis better to keep an eye on the oil level that the pressure gauge.
Seeing the needle higher only makes you feel better not the engine.

Plus for the colder country areas use lighter wt. oils 15/40 idling at 550-600 rpm psi is about 20 and Hwy driving is 40- 45 for the normal but may vary with lighter or heavier wts. of oils.
Now solid lifter FE engines do run higher oil PSI and Side oilers run like 40-60lbs with a warm up engine that is..
Do like many guys do at a under dash manual oil ga.

If you want a "false reading" oil pressure gauge sending unit, install C6SZ-9278-A
Original applications: 1964/66 Thunderbirds, used to pacify complaining owners that said the dash oil pressure gauge read too low.
I didn't know about that one. I do remember 86/88 T-Birds had a deal like that. I want to say with electronic dash. I find no reference to it in the O' puter now. I remember it was E9SZ9278A and XXXX9F291. Might have been on TSB 86-02-06 but that TSB is not shown anymore.

With the key off, the horizontal oil pressure gauge needles of 1964/66 Birds rested at least 1/4" below the Low mark.
Start the engines, the needles barely read above the center line. When the engines warmed up, the needles dropped below center.
People complained, so Ford came out with C6SZ-9278-A .. which "boosted" the gauge needles up by 1/4."
