I have used the WD-40 as suggested by this forum. The door ajar light and buzzer is still buzzing. I love this truck but I hate it!!! It is my first new to me vehicle in over 20yrs and I have to put up with this crap!! I have a 2000 4dr 4x4 xlt. It started this buzzing crap as soon as I filled the tank up and has not stopped since.
I have called several ford dealerships and they want $85.00 diagnostic fee right up front. Then hourly plus parts there after.
I cannot afford this right now.....so IS THERE A FUSE THAT I CAN PULL until I can pay for the fix?????
I am going on a 4hr road trip in the morning and I have been so excited to show this truck off to my family but how am I going to stand that %%&&!! buzzer for 4hrs. It goes off everytime I make a right turn.
Please help with the fuse quick fix.
thanks,
Judy
If i remeber correctly, I think that the door ajar/dinger fuse is coupled up with a few other important things, so pulling the fuse may not be a good thing to do.
Wd-40 works sometimes, but electrical contact cleaner is better as it will not attract more dirt.
Here's my suggestion, swing on down to a auto parts store and pick up some "electrical contact cleaner", make sure it has a red tube extension. My cleaner is made by CRC, what I'll do is open the door and spray this stuff into the latch assembly on the door (really get a good amount in there, use the red tube to get deep into the latch), then open and shut the door hard several times, spray more in, open and shut more times, and so on for a couple more times, repeat for passenger side.
If this doesnt do the trick, I fear that you may have to replace the switch in the door.
on my 94 i just got tired of the buzzer and reached up under the panel under the radio area and unplugged it. its a white box. i havent had any problems with it. only thing is you lose your buzzer for win you live the igniton switch on and lights and things like that. hope this helps
I have called several dealerships I have found one that does not require a diagnostic fee- in a very small rural town. He also told me exactly where to spray the electrical cleaner. I think I have been applying it in the wrong spot. The latch butts up against the door skin and spray deep below the latch. I will try this today before starting off on my trip. If all else fails I will unplug the buzzer as one poster suggested. Thanks very much for all the imput. Great message board.

Judy, I had success with electrical contact cleaner...available at RadioShack and some other places. It worked longer than WD-40. I eventually cut the wire going to the switch, and that solved the problem permanently. However, it did also cause the chime for the headlights to quit working and that can cause you to get stranded if you forget and leave them on.
