So you're looking for bottom end why a 302 why not 351 or hell a 300 you would have a better base for bottom end you could put gt40's on a 351 with a cam and be better off than the 302
I have a 96 with a 5.0L and would also be interested in this information.
Also curious what difference was noticed/gained by the 8degree advance on it's own Blake (is your 96 a 5.0L?).

i have had two 96 150s with the 5.0 one was stock on 31s the other had a 4 inch lift on 33s with the 8th degree advance and it takes off way faster and can actually spin the tires

because im only 17 and have very limited money and the 302 is already in the truck

what's limited if you wanted to keep the 302 base then you could always save up for a 347 kit imo it's better to have a good base to work with than throwing add-ons at it eventually you'll run out
The E303 aint a bad cam, but like was mentioned before you gotta look at the engine as an entire package. A e303 with a set of gt40 heads and a decent exhaust would really wake the truck up. But to just toss a cam in a otherwise stock 5 litre wouldnt do you much good.
I have the e303 (along with several other supporting mods) in my 2wd 96 F150. Even with it being a big ole extended cab and still rocking the stock 3.55 gears it gets up and moves pretty damn good. It easily leaves my 94 F150 and my 76 F250 both in the dust. Despite the 94 having a 351 with headers, dual exhaust, "6 litre tuneup" and 4.10 gears, and the 76 having a mild 460 with headers and exhaust.
302s aren't know for low end torque to begin with, but I dont feel as if the truck lost any power down low with the E303. Its got considerably more power through the entire rpm range then it ever had stock.
has stock sized 235/75 tires and absolutely zero traction through first and half of second if its stood on from a stop.

Your truck would completely annihilate mine in a 0-60 race btw. Leaving me interested in your other statements about not having "lost any power down low with the E303" and "it's got considerably more power through the entire RPM range then it ever had stock". Sounds like a win-win scenario provided your other mods aren't to extensive.
Have you thought of getting a traction adding differential, I imagine it would do wonders for your lack of traction issues and would most likely make it even more fun to drive and corner with the skinny pedal; since you would be spinning/smoking both rear tires instead of just one as is most likely your situation now.
Nothing extra needed engine wise but the truck will need to be regeared afterwords as this cam produces all it's usable power above 3000rpm.
HEY Conanski are you talking from real world experience (did you install this E303 cam in a stock 5.0L and see the power band move up from stock to 3,000RPM and if so what year and model 5.0L please) or what the spec.'s net says?

Sounds like moneys limited (ain't it for all of us) and recommending a swap to a 300c.i. 6cyl. is no way to gain options for more power or torque because you'll run out of add-on's real quick.
The 5.8L swap while a good motor capable of more power and torque then a 5.0L may be more trouble/expensive due to the issues with swapping out engines on these newer computer controlled trucks which can often times be problematic and time consuming to complete (like you've stated though it's only money stopping someone from making a 5.0L grow into an engine of 5.8L's of displacement); or just not cost effective if you've already got a sweet running factory 5.0L in place already.
A 5.0L is a great motor capable of decent low end torque (not big block torque, but still decent low end numbers) along with good higher RPM horsepower with the right modifications and if your trucks already set-up from factory with the 5.0L even better.
I choose a 5.0L over the 300 c.i. 6cyl. for many reasons, many of them because the V-8 has more potential for power adders at less cost and of course who can argue how much better a V-8 sounds compared to a straight six. Saying that I would have choose a 5.8L over the 5.0L if they came equipped with a manual transmission in the style I wanted.
