Will open headers hurt my engine

Will open headers hurt my engine
I am getting ready to put a complete exhaust system on the old 94 and the exhaust shop wants the truck delivered to them with the headers installed. My question is will it hurt my engine if I drive it to the shop with open headers. The exhaust shop is 15 miles from my house so it is not terribly far, I don't want to take any chances though. Please advise and Thanks

I ran my 84 Bronco II 2.8L with open manifolds for 3-4 months and it doesn't seem to have hurt anything. Only real reason I put pipes a thrush pack on it was because it was so loud you couldn't hear the guy next to you.
Granted now it is quieter and V8ish sounding you still can't hear the guy next to you because now it rattles like crazy. LOL

I was going to drop my truck off on my way to work and pick it up afterwards. I have yet to see an officer at 5am on my way to work but with my luck there will be six of them waiting for me. The exhaust shop told me it would be between $300-$600 depending on if I went stainless or not. what do you guys recommend for a cat and muffler. I was thinking about ditching the cat and running 3" to the muffler and dual 2.5" out the back.

I ran out to see the exhaust shop at lunch and he said no go on eliminating the cat. My question is would I be better off with 2 cats 1 directly off of each headers then he could bend me 2 pipes to connect into the muffler or have the exhaust shop build me a y pipe and run 1 cat before the muffler. The exhaust shop said he can build me whatever I want.
This is the cat we were looking at

If I go with 2 cats we were thinking about running this muffler

as soon as I finish the exhaust I am planning on changing the cam. I don't think that qualifies as a built engine but I wanted to see if that made a difference. And possible a Paxton supercharger down the road.
