E-brake cable

My dad has an 88 F-250 with a 10.25 sterling full floater. He broke his e-brake the other day. When I got under the truck, I noticed that the rear cable broke where the 1 into 2 bracket is. So basically I have to replace one of the rear cables. How does this work, do I have to take apart some of the rear axle?

I believe you have to remove the rear brake hub to remove/replace the rear cable. Buy a service manual from auto parts store, it'll show you what you need to do. Autozone & Advance can print out the repair pricedure for you at the store.

Hey MustangGT221! Twice in one day!! You may want to purchase both cables. R & L. The one that hasn't broken YET, probably will when you start adjusting. The cable does run through the backing plate as you can see. There it's held on, on the bracket. (so many good ideas, but a pain in the @%# to do maintenance). Talk with you later....
