Need direction for 1st project...

First post, Hey all!
89' 302 4x4 M-5sp
Looking to swap out my 302 for 351, and need some direction for what engine would be best for my 1st project:
I know I want to upgrade to a 351 with MAF (to accommodate future upgrade) but I don't know if I should be looking for a 96' where MAF was standard or converting an earlier 351 to MAF? For now I have the Mazda M5R2 so compatibly my or may not be an issue. I would like to know the most cost effective yet simplest set up for my first project. I know it wont be easy but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

Thanks all, and I look forward to one day contributing to this community. Purchased my first F150 last week with the intent of getting my hands dirty, and can't wait to do so!

The engine itself isn't MAF it's just the EFI system so you can use any 5.8 EFI engine for the swap, but I'd still suggest a '94+ motor to get a factory roller cam. And as for getting MAF I have a used kit for sale in the classifieds that is a direct bolt-in for your truck.. PM if you're interested.
