My Deltas

Finally got a ScanGuage. Here are my Deltas:

ECT: 179-180

EOT: 208-213

I have had a coolant filter and Cat ELC for approximately 7 years. I plan to put in a new oil cooler, delete the egr and put a new thermostat since my ect seems low.

With the temps I have now is there any danger in driving it? I'm not doing any heavy towing.

Thanks

dam youre getting 213 oil temp in the winter not towing anything??? Id say try and drive your truck hard and get that coolant temp up to 190 to allow max flow and cool that oil back down. Could have an oil cooler problem or it could just be the thermostat. I was getting 40degree deltas when i ended up doing my oil cooler. But your elc shouldn't haven't broken down to clog up the oil cooler. Keep an eye on your deltas and outside temps. Your oil temp shoudnt sky rocket and leave your ect behind

28°- 33° difference is pretty risky...and it's probably been like that for quite awhile but you didn't know until you recently got the Scangauge.

Going through this right now with one of my trucks. My ECTs are right where your are. I understand this is a veriable open thermostat, so it could be functioning correctly. Mine finally for to 184 ECT yesterday and the EOT was still 30-40* higher. I puller a triler to my office yesterday and I actually got up to 49* deltas.

I am no fortune teller, but I see oil cooler sin both our our futures.

Sooner then later would be best. Otherwise it will cost a lot more.

My EGR is already deleted, so I have a little less to worry about. Will be watching my EOT and not letting it get over 230.

Id say at minimum you need a new tstat. I agree as well thst your oil cooler is clogged based on eot being that high this time of year.
