7.3l dies while driving
I'm new to this site and I'm not very mechanical but I need help figuring out what's wrong with my truck. Today I was driving down the road and my truck just shut off. I checked the oil and it was very low so I added oil and it fired up then about an hour later it just died again so I checked the oil and it was full. After about 20 mins I cranked it back up and drove about a mile and it died again so I got a new cps and changed it out then drove about 2 miles until it died again then just got it towed home. Any ideas on what's wrong?

csmartin. Welcome to FTE! We need more information. What year? What modifications, if any... Your best bet is to post in the diesel section of FTE that supports the year of your truck. I wish I could help you more than this. There are a lot of guys who a lot smarter than I who will help.

How recently have you changed the oil. I am ashamed and embarassed to admit it but when I was younger and dumber and poorer in college I had the exact symptoms you are having and it was because my oil was so dirty. The dealer changed the oil and gave me a tongue lashing and never had the problem again.
