Battery Drain when wet

Sometimes mostly when its really humid and cold or sometimes when it rains my electronics start turning on in the truck, the blower motor will turn on, the lights in the truck, the radio will all turn on without the key even in the ignition. Now the only place water can get in is through this hole in the back of our 4 door 99 f350 4x4 right next to the rear high mount brake light. Could something be getting wet, like the GEM, and causing the malfunction? Is there some way I can protect the GEM behind the fuse panel if thats whats getting wet? Batteries died completely last night, I couldn't even jump them this morning please help!!

Sounds like the GEM unit is getting wet. In most cases it is a leaking windshield that causes it to drip on it and the fuse box. Pull the drivers side post trim and look for windshield leak dripping down it. Or pull the fuse box under the dash because the GEM is on the back. I myself have yet to fix my windshield so I either leave the truck in the garage and I have the post trim off and a rag there to stop the water from going down.

How do I remove the fuse panel?

Honestly I don't think I'm the best person to ask that since I'm not real good at explaining things. All I did was start taking things apart and swear alot and finally I got it out?!? I think there is a write up out there with step by step, so try the search engine. But there are a couple of bolts that hold it in and the hardest parts was unplugging it in the back where the GEM is and to get it pulled out from under the dash was a real tricky. That's where the swearing came in. Sorry I know that isn't alot of help.
