2000 350 93171 miles 7.3, Edge power chip for towing, Banks engine brake. The engine idles rough wants to romp at slow speeds 15 to 20 mph it accelerate fine but when I stop the rpm raises 1150 then drops to 750 in arond 5 seconds which is normal rpm. While driving 45 mph I heard a change in the engine sound the service engine light came on and the truck started running normal. I've tighted the connector under the valve covers .50 fix, oil changed, check hpop oil level, check IPR, ICP under load up hill IPR 63%, ICP 24.46 at 2314 RPM here are the reading at idle with service engine light on idle seems normal IPR 10.1, ICP 476, RPM 660, EBP 14.4, TPS 0, FWT 40, TFC 4.27, BST 0.1, MAT 6.50, FPW 2.56, EOT 212, HPR 34.5, CPM 9999, VLT 14.1, FIA 92,FPR 0.0, GPH 2.09 IGN 641, LOD 13, LP open,MAP 14.4 no codes found I'm using a Scangauge II Somebody out there knows whats going on please help.
Yes that was WOT run, no I haven't done pressure check, no I don,t a Auto Engineuity. After that run the truck ran fine until the next day then started acting up again. Today I'm going to clean the sensor and tube that comes off the exhaust manifold. Thanks, keep the suggestions coming I don't want to buy unnecessary parts.
When you put the banks exhaust brake in did you install the trans command?
When you let off the gas the converter stay's locked. even if the brake is not activated, I had it so bad sometimes the truck would stall or lurch forward, not good for the car in front. trans command operates independently of the brake, so it's always working, your feeling the converter disengaging. Call Banks talk to Tom, they had a few problems with late disengaging, or sometimes if you hit the gas at a light, like your looking to race and the converter will lock, better hold on to the brake and let her stall out.
The issue could be the Banks. Although I know nothing about them other than the explanation provided above. So, it worth looking into.
If it didn't have the Banks, I would begin by looking at the Injector Control Pressure Sensor (CPS). The CPS tends to show its colors at idle, similar to your explanation of what's occurring. A simple test with no tools required is to remove the connector and look into the sensors connection to see if oil is seeping by the disk. That in and of itself is not an indication of a failed circuit but rather a failing circuit. There is also a nut which screws down over the sensor and provides a ground. They sometimes loosen and cause voltage issues as well.
If you find oil, post back and I'll post a way you can check it with a DVOM.
I have a manual trans,I disconnected the edge proformance chip and turn off the Banks engine brake and took it for a drive. It started fine and let warm up, idled alittle rough, no SES on drove it at 15 mph it started romping, got out on the highway and accelerated to 55 mph here are reads on the scangauge II. IPR 20.7 ICP 1230 RPM 1645 after a few more miles the SES came on and the idle smoothed out at idle it read IPR 12.5, ICP 595, RPM 761. Ran it up to 55 RPM and read IPR 13.7, ICP 825, RPM 1637. Runs great with SES on I found no oil on ICP connector would not start with connector removed. I thought PCM would throw a default code. I'm thinking it might be the ICP, but if it were bad would it be showing reading? I would like to know how to test the sensor with a VOM. Thanks for your help with this.
