Just bought a 2003 Mountaineer for my wife. Salesman said we could change keypad entry code to anything we wanted.
Found out this is only partially true. Now looking for help!
She took the owner's manual to work and was reading through it. Had to leave the room, came back and some of the maintainence guys were thumbing through the manual. UNFORTUNATELY, the keypad entry code card was still in the book. When we looked up the procedure to CHANGE the code, we discovered that you CAN'T change the original factory-set code, only ADD a new one!
Personally, I can understand her concern as some of these guys are (what they feel) practical jokers. I consider them meddlers and troublemakers, so would not put it past them to think it was funny to fiddle around with things inside her truck.
SO, as we now feel uncomfortable with this code potentially being compromised, we want it changed.
I'm sure there must be SOME way to change this code, just need to know HOW!
