Yes they owe you a repair, unless you have raced it or something like that the onus is on them to prove you abused it.

Noted a ticking sound in wife's car and would have bet $ it was not a lifter. Took it into dealer they said it was normal and to not worry about it.

Had 97,000+ miles on car, 100,000 mi drive train warranty.

Then the engineer came out in me and told me to get a second opinion. I dropped it off, they said they would call the next day. Call came in: Sir do you mind if we replace your engine? What the problem was, piston was rocking in the cyl. They put in a whole new engine and it was not cheap. They replaced all the belts fluids etc. Alum block and heads Chevy V8, 410 Hp.

Great dealer and I did not even buy it there.

Here, he posts that the Dodge dealership accepted responsibility for the oil issue and is paying the repair bill. Hopefully, he means for the engine replacement.
Is it possible for a mod to merge these two threads and move the reply he made in that other thread (randomly??) as it's all very confusing to follow.

They still got paid by the manufacturer to do the work. I don't fully understand why more dealerships don't take advantage of that and leap at the opportunity to perform warranty work unless the boss of the service division thinks he can squeeze more money out of individuals than he can the manufacturer.

Private customers pay a higher rate than manf. warranty work.

In my experience these drain plugs remove very easily, as well as tighten very easily. If the engine failed, due to improper installation of the plug by the previous servicing tech (which it HAS TO be) causing the engine oil to drain out and the ensuing engine failure, how is this considered the fault of the manufacturer?
The drain plug did not fall out while driving. I was parked. There was no evidence of leaking oil on the undercarriage or rear axle. The 1/4 turn tabs were broke, and yes it was the plastic pan. It was upgraded to the metal one. I have since put 4,000 miles on the truck with no issues. Then engine blew.
