Well after all of the snow lately I figure my four wheel high and low doesn't work. I don't think it is the hubs not activating or anything because I hear hubs click In for high and low. I tried searching the forum for this issue but all I found was thing out the vacuum lines. Any ideas what this could be?
Don't think it's the hubs you are hearing; it's more likely the shift motor on the transfer case. Have you tried locking the hubs manually? Also, there a thread just recently about how to diagnose the vacuum lines, which would also cause hijinx with A/C.
You can lock manually by turning the hub center. They should only turn in one direction, which should lock them. To unlock, just turn back in the other direction. I don't think they are marked but haven't looked in a while.
Thanks guys, big help. I locked in the hubs earlier and 4x4 worked perfectly. Now the reason why it doesn't engage automatically has something to do with the vacuum?
Either vacuum or the hubs just need to be taken apart, cleaned, lubed and reassembled. Sometimes they just get gummed up and need a good cleaning/servicing to get them working again. Both vacuum troubleshooting and servicing them are covered in the Tech Folder at the top of this forum.
Good luck!

Ill have to try that when it warms up. Truck barely fits in the garage, height wise. Just ordered some ball joints so ill have to do them at the same time.
Well I checked the hubs the other day, the drivers side had some broken parts in it, and the passenger side was just fine. So I guess I'm going to buy a set of manual hubs. I was looking at Mile Marker, but they said they only fit a f250 and not an EX. I thought the parts were compatible, but I want to make sure before I spend the money.
These are the one you want. You can find them for less if you are not in a big hurry. I've got them for $90 pair. They work & look great. Fitting all Dana 50 & 60 axels.
