1948 1 ton
It has the F68 tag on the sides. What does this stand for?
What is a good price for this truck. I rebuilt the original flathead, I have had it running in the past, and all of the body panels are there, but it is not assembled. The cab is on, the doors are finished, but not installed, the front fenders are fibreglass, the hood is steel, but not installed etc. I don't know of anything missing.
if anybody could give me some pointers, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Glenn
Pictures speak 1,000 words. Are you able to post pix of the truck? There is a classified section here on FTE and posting additional pix or having them available to interested buyers under separate cover via E-mail is a great selling tool.
Price? I'm going to default to the pat response: "value is in the eye of the beholder". Obviously, depending on the condition of the truck and parts as well as the market for such a truck. Poke around in truck trader magazines, etc and look at stuff in your area and try to get a feel for it. When I sell something, I price it according to what I would pay if I where looking to buy it. But FMV (Fair Market Value) is largely determined by perceived value, so do some research and find a price that will bring buyers and also doesn't leave you with seller's remorse (for selling it TOO cheaply). And on that note, if you're looking to just get rid of it, I'd put a "$1,000 o.b.o" sticker on it. It shouldn't take long at that point.
Good luck,
Daryl
PS- another thought: place an ad in a local/regional newspaper or freebie publication. People are always looking for deals on unique/different stuff in those. A $20ad in a newspaper for an item worth $$$ can bring a nice return on investment!

Again, the help was much appreciated.

There's a member in here that goes by KEITHS 1950 F68. His real name is Keith Barrett. He lives in Plainfield, Ont. About 10 minutes or so north of Belleville on Hwy # 37. He has a mint 50 F68 and tends to collect vehicles, bits and pieces. (He wants to have so many projects ahead of him that he can never die) Get a couple of pictures of your "truck" and then get ahold of Keith. He might be interested in it. He's a supervisor of a road construction crew and is on the road during the week so he normally only checks his email on the weekends. He also has a big m-f of a trailer that could haul that baby home should he end up buying it......
If he doesn't want it, there's always Autotrader.ca or Old Car Trader.
Regardless, you need to take some pictures of it...
Later,
