Custom 250 I6 Intake

I know I have a pretty lengthy thread going with the 250 I6 build, but I would like to get some opinions, good or bad, on this intake that I fabricated. I wanted to run the Weber 32/36 2V because of all the rave reviews I heard about it concerning the fuel economy and performance boost when swapping the cam and installing a header. The reason for turning the carb this way was to reuse the existing throttle cable which I understand isn't a real argument for my decision. I saved the piece I cut out just in case I had to undo what I did. Anyway, here what I did. Like I said, good or bad, give me your opinions.

The only problem I could think of is maybe the fuel charge from the secondary having to make a 90* turn to travel down the intake. Just let me know what ya'll think. Thanks in advance for your help.

Still think you have better options. This article covers about all of them: Classic Inlines - Modifying the Log Manifold for a 2V Carb swap Scroll down to "2v conversion".

I do not know how well it will work, but it definitely shows that someone is thinking "outside the box". Follow through and report back as to how it works.

Nice work!

There's no reason it won't work. As long as the welds don't crack and your vehicle has the room for your intake addition. It should perform much better then the stock carb/intake.

On the small 6's the Offy 3 -1V set up would give a little better air/fuel distribution. But your modification will run better then a 2V to 1V adapter on the stock intake.

Thanks for you insight and opinions, I'll definitely let ya know how it goes once I get it in the truck. I am considering the head and intake like gfw1985 has on his Bronco and putting TBI on it but that will be down the road. Thomas Edison's quote comes to mind when I find myself in uncharted territory, "I have not failed. I've just found 10000 ways that won't work."
