My Daily driver is a 78 pinto wagon
I just bought a shop find 1986 ford F150 short bed 300 inline six
trans code A I believe its a NP435 granny low then 3 more speeds
rear end tag shows 3.08 8.8 6D21 S806A
looks like an open diff 3.08 gears 8.8 inch ring
on Alcoa aluminum 15 x 7 sitting on 235.75R15
light grey cab gloss black bed and tail gate
bone stock 6 days ago I added gas and put a cheap used battery and she fired up and drove home cost 500 bucks plus 35 for gas and a battery
I have been looking on the site for a couple days to figure out exactly what I had purchased .
the clock says 89547.6 but the body interior is was faded and tattered
3 small dents on the cab 1 on the bed all lights worked sweet find in my book
looking at possibly the offenhauser hooker and holly upgrade with dual exhaust I found a pair of new in box purple hornies at a garage sale for 20 bucks for the pair
I rant on any way here I am open to ideas and cheap alternative to power upgrades

trans swap
I'm also really excited to swap out the 4 speed for a 5 speed I commute 29 miles each way to work and want to get the best mpg I can I remember as a boy late 70's truck watching my uncle swap a trans out never dropped the bell or the clutch just the gear box
is that possible with an 86?
I have read already about swaps with a bunch of little mods and tweeks
again I welcome your ideas
