Need new speakers for the Ranger. The eclipse that I have now just won't handle the power.looking for 6x9 and 5x7 or 5 1/5
Needs to be a quality brand and handle 165 rms.

Why do you need 165 wrms going to each speaker in your front stage, in a Ranger? That's a ton. Headroom is one thing, but...damn! No 5x7's can handle 165 wrms thermally. With that kind of power, look into some component speakers. How much are you willing to spend? I have 80 watts going to each front speaker, and it fills my Ranger with more than enough crystal clear sound (it's loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage/loss).

You are unlikely to find a speaker that can handle that much "pure" power. You can however, find some great speakers and dial down the gain so you have improved dynamics and your amp runs nice, cool, and effortlessly.

Again, a budget will help out. Also, are you willing to make a baffle or or cut the door a teeny bit? Those two are a big deal if you want some suggestions on component speakers.

Try taking a look at Diamond Audio M3 coaxials. They handle alot of power and they sound great!

Have componets in it now so that wouldn't be to bad.
Trying to spend as little as posable.I would be willing to modify the doors a little.
I thought that eclipse was a good brand but all they do is rattle
maybe they are just getting old.
How about audiobahn, cerwin vega, or something along that line?
By the way I am cheap so I will be getting them from ebay.

try Polk Audio.com. i have Polks in my truck and they are awesome. they have an excellent website and excellent customer support too. mine are the POLK MOMO's. i have 1 10' sub in rear and 5 1/4's components up front and am VERY happy with these speakers. there are good reviews on the net too.

good luck.

If they sound rattly, you may want to use some dynamat on your next pair. It makes a huge difference, and cuts down on road noise and vibration. I personally hate polk because they sound terrible to me. Some poeple like some peole hate. I installed some in my GF's car(I believe they were POLK EX series coaxials) and they sounded like crap. No bass extension below 100hz whatsoever, and the tweeter sukd too. Maybe if you try their better line you'll have better results. Just stay away from the POLK EX line.

wow really? well i can't speak for the ex series but the momo's are great. whatever you choose definately use that dynomat stuff or somethin similar. i did my doors and made a pocket for the front speakers and it really helps. i also put some high density foam matting under the carpet. also depends on the amps you are using. i have a MTX running the fronts and a PPI running the sub. the fronts came with separate crossovers too. best to go to the shop and have a listen before you choose anyway.

Ordered some audiobahn compenets 600t.
They are rated at 140 wrms. I think that should be enough
after all I don't want to go deaf.
