I'm going to install some lowering shackles on my 94 f150 2wd and would like to replace the leaf spring bushings also and wondering what you guys deem to be the best replacement and where to buy them. Poly, brass, rubber etc? One piece of two piece?
What you have in there right now is a one piece, rubber encased bushing (metal outside shell, rubber inside with a metal tube).
It really comes down to personal preference. A poly type will last a very long time but we stopped selling them because a lot of people would complain a few months down the road that their ride quality suffered because the poly bushings would get rock hard and nothing was giving. On the flip side, some people absolutely love them.
If you get a replacement rubber encased bushing it will mean you will need to get the old bushing out, whether you burn it out or press it out, and then press the new ones in. Even if you don't have a press you can still get the job done pretty easily, it may take a tad bit longer. IMO the hardest part is getting the old ones out.
If you need pricing on bushings just let me know, send me a message or give us a call.
