Does anyone know if a harness from a 1990 F150 5.0 AOD will work with the 4.9L EFI from the same general year of truck? I actually have a 1966 F250 that has a 390 A/T that I want to put an EFI / AOD in. I would prefer the 4.9L for the torque but the harness I have came from 5.0 / AOD. I have the trans as well and know it will work with either engine. Any help would be appreciated.
It's not a direct fit obviously because one motor is a V and the other an inline but it's got all the wires and connectors you need so if you're not adverse to a little modification it can be made to work.
I'm not afraid of a little modification. I actually enjoy doing wiring harnesses. My F100 is getting a Lincoln 4.6L DOHC and I am using the Mark VIII harness in that. I had originally bought the 1990 F150 to do the transplant into the 66 F100. The engine turned out to be toast so I sidelined the project until I could find a motor. Then came across the lincoln and it was a steal for what I got. In the meantime I had kept the trans and all the electrical components from the F150. Now I picked up a 1966 F250 for $300 from a storage lien sale so I want to just make it run like a new truck if not looking like one. Just a good old workhorse.
Here's a pick of the DOHC going in the F100 and then the $300 F250 I picked up last Saturday.
