Another first service thread...

I bought my 6.7 with 13,400 miles on it, it's a '13 and it supposedly was 'just serviced', looking at the truck I could see a Napa oil filter and to be honest I don't trust people, so now that I've struck 15,000 miles I went out and purchased new motorcraft fuel filters and an oil filter and a fumoto oil valve.
I was armed to the gills with all of the FTE knowledge and went after it.
My first impressions are that this truck is awesome, changing the frame rail filter with a 32mm socket is stupid easy, next to zero mess after loosening it and draining the bowl, then the oil change nothing new there, much like my old 7.3 nothing crazy (easier than my old 6.0), underneath the hood I'd heard about the little bolt for the fuel filter but mine doesn't have it so it was as simple as unclipping the fuel lines twist and lift. Refilled the oil and now we're ready to roll again!

Long story short this forum is great, I had no surprises thanks to you guys if anything I was paranoid but there was nothing to worry about.I've put 1,600 miles on this truck so far and it's awesome, fuel mileage is about 13.5 in the city and 16 on the highway, I've owned a 6.0 and a 7.3 and this is my favorite I just hope I can hold out and resist the urge to delete the DPF/DEF before I'm outta my 3/36!

This 6.7 does have easier maintance items.

Remember the coolant is no longer the ford gold type.

They really are "complex" machines that are super easy to perform preventative maintenance on.

The only thing I'd add is just to not overlook purging the fuel system after changing the filters. I'm fairly certain you did it, Scriv, but just to type it out: after changing fuel filters, turn the key ON, not START, for 30 seconds, then turn it off for 15. Repeat for a total of 6 times. I read or heard that somewhere, and it's given me no problems at all when followed.
