Alright folks I have a 2000 Excursion 4x4 V10 running 35" tires and the original owner sold me the truck with add a blocks in the rear which will level the front with rear because they wanted that dumb pre-runner look. Well I know after doing very little research the recommended approach is not blocks which causes axle roll. Yes I could spend the ridiculous amount of money and install traction bars on rear but that is still a waste and might as well do it right.
So my question is this the front already has the full 4" lift pro-comp style in the front but I want to bring the rear to level. What leaf mods springs do I need for the rear? I have read about the X/B leaf upgrade so does that mean I need B leafs in the rear and order from ATS?
I'm sure there is a multitude of sources to get the correct parts but I want to do it right and make it safe since it is my family vehicle and will always run 4 kids and two adults plus (2) dogs around. Occasional towing as well but nothing too heavy as I have a 2005 F350 6.0 dually that will handle the towing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry if I go and dig up old posts related to same questions.
Are the rear blocks stacked, meaning an added block on top of the stock block? It reads like you have stacked blocks If so ditch that setup asap, stacked blocks can be dangerous. As for getting rid of the per runner look. Modded B codes with an F350 block in place of the stock EX block or whatever it is you have should put you close to level
Yes your absolutely correct it has block maybe 1.5 or 2" block under the anti-roll block which is the stock part, if that sounds correct in the rear. By that I don't mean the block added is stock. The guy sold me truck with a 4" block to put in instead and take out other block but I don't want to go that route.
Where can I get the F350 block from? And where is the best place to order B leaf springs? When you mean modded what does that mean?
If I call ATS and order the B springs and ask for modded will they know what I mean or another reputable company?
F350 blocks can be found at many recyclers if you have one local
I ordered my B code springs from tousley ford online. Decent prices for new parts and fast shipping.
Modded B code springs are actually a stock B code with the 2 bottom spring leaves from your stock excursion leaf pack added in. A longer center bolt is needed. There are many posts about this procedure on the site, I'll see if I can dig one up
Love the ride, handles much better, more stable, doesn't wallow around like a drunken sailor anymore, A bit more firm but not harsh by any means. Tows very well, my boat and trailer combined are probably around 7500-8000 lbs depending on fuel load in the boat
Only complaint-Ford should have built these trucks like this
I went with the X/C code with an add a leaf. (The next step up from V/B if I'm right)
ATS actually builds the springs. You could order then anyway you would like I bet. Looking at mine when they came in they do some high quality work.
I bought mine as new C code springs with an add a leaf. The way I understand is that with this setup I'll get a pretty level stance. I'll find out for sure on Saturday when I install them.

ATS does have blocks, but they are only 2.5" wide. Your rear springs are 3" wide, so there would not be full contact from block to spring. I did not want to have that on mine, so I decided to "mod" my ATS C_XL springs with two springs from my old pack.
Junior at ATS told me a few weeks back that they are working on making a 3" wide blcok for guys like us.
That's that thing I have a 4" block now that I can remove the 2" one under the stock part and add in that extra 2" of block but after reading what I read about blocks not a wise choice. So is it that blocks are just bad option completely?
Trying to understand since they do pack these trucks and the Super duty P/U's with blocks why is it so bad? Is it the size of blocks at a certain height makes for big problems or is it blocks in general just not a good rule of thumb?
