Was finally able to get the X/C with extra leaf from ATS in. Junior was a great help and got me the "right" parts.
Installed KYB Mono Max shocks along with some new BFGoodrich All Terrain KO2's in 285 size.
Now onto finding the pass side grille insert, fixing 60+ mph driveline vibe, and looking deeper into rear brakes as I think the calipers are sticking...
You also have to remember that lifting much more than x codes starts to require drop pitman, longer brake lines, etc. I have v codes and leveling leafs and can clear 35's and I couldn't go any higher without needing to spend lots more money.
This is the right choice for sure, maybe down the road go further with it but I am happy with the stance for now. I think 35's would fit if I wanted to stuff them in there so that's always a possibility...
At this point my focus needs to be on my driveline vibe. The symptoms are above 55 or so there is a vibe, doesn't matter if you are on or off the throttle. It seems to be less noticeable at 75 mph. I have heard of caliper slider issues but just checked them when I went to retorque the ubolts. Brakes pads etc all look even and in good condition.
Wheels are factory and I don't see any damage, pass rear has more weight than I like, but its not astronomical. I have dealt with driveline vibes in the past but its typically an angle issue and on a much shorter shaft.
The rear driveshaft is the Ford "upgraded" version with the CV at the tcase. It looks much newer than the front and cleaner than the rest of the bottom of the truck. I have not pulled it to get balanced yet and that is on my list. Ujoints are tight and look relatively new (like the rest of the shaft) so I am thinking balance issue. Really hoping I don't have an internal issue with the rear axle...
Vibe was present before and after the swap from 265's to 285's. I have been waiting to pull the driveshaft until after the changes to see if any of them made a difference...so far not so lucky...
It could also be a nice dent in the drive shaft. It is pretty easy to pop it out and drive around in front wheel drive. That would also indicate CV or U-jount problems.
My truck has always had a vibe at exactly 55 mph. Several sets of tires, u joints, new rotors, Dana 60 swap, etc, it's never changed it. I think it's just a resonance that I'm not sure will go away. The good news is it's very minor and only noticeable when driving at a steady 55 mpg. I don't worry about that because I'm with Sammy hagar.
