Edelbrock intake question

What is the part at the bottom of this picture that's kinda shaped like a D? I was tightening it down when installing my intake and it cracked. I was tightening to torque specs but I guess that's too tight for this particular part.

Can I get another one?

That is a block off plate for your hot air choke if you are not using one. You should be able to get one by itself.

Ok thank you. I wonder why it cracked? Do I not need to torque it to spec?

The intake cracked or the heat stove cracked that bolts to that area?
