Does anyone know it they will clean grime as they put the vehicle back together?
Thanks.
Mikes150, your problem is not unique. My 2012 5.0 XLT has this exact same problem. My dealership hasn't replaced any parts yet. My truck has thrown the same codes p0012 and p0014 three times in the last 3000 miles. Just wondering if what your dealer did has fixed the problem or not? I only have 4,000 miles of powertrain warranty left and I would sure like to get this fixed. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Chad

Hi Chad! My Truck will be ready tomorrow and when I get the Invoice I will tell you exactly what they replaced. I Highly recommend calling the ford service number and open a claim. 800-392-3673. If it wasn't for the Chevy dealership who I bought the truck from it probably wouldn't have been fixed. Ford said that they cant replace any parts if they cant diagnose the problem. Chevy told them that if there are vehicle trouble codes then there is a problem. After staying very firm with ford they finally decided to try and repair the issue.

I highly recommend taking your truck into the shop with the check engine light on. and tell them about this problem. then call ford and open a claim. and stay very firm and tell them that this is under ford warranty and they need to fix it.

Tell the ford customer service representative that this is a recurring problem. As far as I been told if its a recurring problem then after your warranty is up it will still be covered. But make sure you call that number!

How many miles are on your truck?

Welcome to the forum, Chad. Since you're new you won't have PM privileges yet, so I suggest reaching out to our Customer Relationship Center at 1-800-392-3673. Once you have the ability to PM, feel free to contact me as well; I'll be happy to do what I can to help.

-Michael.

Michael my truck has 56,400 miles so time is running out fast! I have taken my truck in twice with the check engine light on and all they had done is clear codes and reprogram PCM which did absolutely nothing to fix the problem. I took it back in this week and the changed the cam phasors which also did not fix the problem as the truck acted up again today and the same fault codes are now pending again. The odd thing is if I pull over and shut the truck off and restart it the problem goes away immediately. The service manager is one of my good friends and he wants to get my truck fixed but they don't know how to fix it and Ford engineering has been no help at all so far. They claim to not know what the cause is either. Let me know what they all replaced on your truck when you get it back. Thanks for all your help so far. I will call the number and start a claim

I'm worried that my truck will act up again as well.

After the trouble codes are reset how long does it take to act up again?

Here is what the invoice says:
"Removed alternator to access the oil sender performed oil pressure test is at 20psi well with in spects. removed gauge and reinstalled alternator checked oil pressure at right head is at 15psi in spects. as per hotline they want new solenoids and phasers installed on right head. removed the valve covers and water pump removed the front cover removed phasers from both heads and retimed the engine. replaced phasers and solenoids on right head. reinstalled cover with new gaskets and front crank seal Installed water pump and valve covers with new gaskets and front crank seal oil and filter filled coolent burped system road tested no leaks runs ok."

This is word for word of what the invoice said.
Also ask the dealer if they could maybe put in a data recorder so when it acts up it can maybe help better the understanding of the problem

The dealership called this anoil restriction issue.

It seems like it's acting up more frequently than it was. The first three times it was about once every 800-1000 miles. I had the cam phasers replaced on Thursday of this week and it acted up the very next day. I have also heard oil restriction mentioned as a possible cause but I can't believe it can be temporarily cured by a simple restart of the engine. Has your dealer given you any indication of what they will do if you're truck still isn't fixed? My truck is going back in next week.

My Family has owned
1.F100
2.1995 ford f150
3.1997 ford ranger(my first vehicle)
4.1999 F250 V10
5.1993 f250
6.1992 f350
7.Ford Bronco
8.1975 ford maverick
9.1988 ford ranger
10.Ford Explorer
11.2012 f150 stx (my second ford)
Ford has been a part of my family for generations. I am a 19 year old in school and working full time. In my previous posts you all may have seen the problem with my f150. After being out of the shop for 3 days the problem came back worse then before. After reaching out to ford customer service and being ganged up on by customer care representatives. In my line of work customer service is the priority and we will do anything to please the customer. I am not sure what I am supposed to do. I am very furious and I am hoping that some one from fords corporate team reaches out to me. I have been very patient courteous and friendly to all the representatives.(accept for today when I raised my voice)

All I am is asking is for my truck to be fixed I am tired of all the apologies from ford customer care. and I am tired of getting the run around about the diagnoses that they cant figure out.

If anybody out there can help fix this problem please reach out to me so I can reach out to the dealership. Thanks and I hope my post doesn't offend any ford employees. I am just very upset how I have been treated.

Chad,
The dealership is now talking about replacing the head. They looked at a data base about similar issues and they said that other dealerships fixed the problem by replacing the head.

Good luck.

Michael thanks for the information. I will pass this on to my dealer and push for the head to be replaced. I feel your frustration with this issue and like you I just want my truck fixed.

Hi Michael,

I want to step in here and see what I can do to help. PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll start investigating options.

Ford dealer said that before they go and replace a head they want the vehicle to act up one more time, with a oil pressure gauge attached while I am driving it. Oh and a customer service supervisor tried to call me and I am working. When I called back they said a supervisor is unavailable until Monday. I don't know why I is so hard for me to talk to any body. I have had better luck calling my cable company.

Today the ford dealer told me how much they appreciate me and thanked me for being very patient. They showed me everything that engineering has sent down. Today I couldn't be happier with the way they made me feel.

I picked up my truck today and it has an oil pressure gauge attached to it and they told me to watch it and when the truck acts up look at the gauge to see what it says if it is below 10PSI then there is for sure a problem with the head. On my way home from the dealer I stopped at the gas station to grab a snack before work. The truck had acted up very mildly I looked at the gauge and it was surging at around 10 psi along with my RPMs. I wrote it down and will continue to monitor the gauge.

I know I may have been upset and wrote a few things on here to put down ford. But Riverside Ford has really stepped up to the plate to help with this issue they really seem to care and that is what I appreciate. Now I will be even happier when my truck is repaired.

Hey, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. That's why when you get that survey, you let them know exactly how you feel:
"Was your vehicle fixed right the first time?"
"Did the dealer contact you and keep you up to date on your repair?"
"Did the repair take longer than you where told it would?"
"How did the dealer treat you?"
"Would you recommend this dealer?"

I hope they get it fixed for you. I'm curious to find out what exactly the problem is, and how they fix it for you.

Day two with oil pressure gauge attached to head:
Started truck and the gauge went from zero to 8psi I started pulling out of parking lot, the truck had mild hesitation. the Gauge still at 8 psi. I get on freeway and the truck is really bogged down like it needs to down shift. still at 8 psi and stayed there until I got home and then I shut the truck off. I restarted the truck and it took a second longer to start then normal. the gauge took longer to adjust then went to 15 psi. will be contacting dealer tomorrow.
