I have a 89 f-250 4wd 7.3l with a c-6 tranny. Has anyone done a swap to an e4od, manual trans, or would a gear vendors unit be the best route for overdrive.

I swapped my e4od for a 99 ZF 6-speed. I had to make new drive shafts because the lengths of the trannies were different. I had to use the transfer case from the 99 also. If you find a similiar year model tranny it might not be as difficult. I have a used e40d that worked well when pulled. ( I also swapped motors to a 98 Powerstroke and wanted a manual tranny) E-mail me at eiznekcm979 at earthlink.net.

90 F-350 4x4 with a 99 zf 6-speed '98 Stroke 3" body lift and 35x12.50 BFG's no exhaust or wiring yet, but I 'm almost there.
